Jianli, Kenny and Siaosiang have painted a very colourful Chinese folk art painting to welcome the year of OX! Love their vibrant colours! These are very happy paintings! Cheers!
It's always nice to smell the fragrance from the home made Chinese New Year Cookies. First of all, they're freshly baked and hand made ;) I bought a few jars from Mrs. Looi, Siaosiang's Mummy :) Siaosiang even made a jar of chocolate cereal for me as Chinese New Year gift :D Thank you for the yummy Chinese New Year cookies :D Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Prudence, Ethan, Dylan and Sammi create a work of colourful Chinese New Year poster to welcome the coming festive season! Happy Chinese New Year!
Dear Friends & Parents,
I promised these young ladies that I'm going to bake gingerbreadmen for them as Christmas treats! They exclaimed "Horray!" and even requested me to bake for their siblings too! Sonia brought a new friend named Lina to the art class today ;) I remembered she gave herself a nickname, Greasy??? I gave each of them a template to build a house! I asked them, "What kind of house do you want to live in??" They answered in no time "Pet House!" There, they drew pets at every windows:- cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, parrots, goldfishes and even terrapins! They're one true animals' lovers ;) Good job ladies!
I'm teaching at United Square for A Million Little Things Art & Craft Shop. It was my first time teaching Art for Mother and son at the same time. Janet was learning folk art and her son Mason was learning how to draw his favourite Ben Ten Characters! ;) It is a bonding experience that Art can actually bond them together! They learn to appreciate their differences and interests at the same time!
Channel U came and interviewed Teacher Esther today! I was pretty nervous at first but I realised I was not!? Because my mind was with my students' art making in the class! They came in when my class just started, so it was kind of multi- tasking for me. Mr Chew (TCS actor) came and interviewed me, he's the host or producer of the show. He helped me a lot in Mandarin speaking program, and interpret my meanings in more proper sentences... thanks to him else I would rather be speaking English instead! ;p Well, lots of NG, but luckily Mr. Chew and his cameramen were very patience :p Hee... My lucky students are going to be in the show too! Catch them on 6th Nov08 @ Channel U 9.30pm program called Xiao Xiao Yi Shu Jia!
These are Mr. Lin's little darlings! They're all young ladies in this class! Mr. Lin has to take leaves for his studies as I'm here to relief his art classes ;) Chantel (Theon's sister) shouted from the back, "Teacher Esther, imagine you're our Mother and we're your children!" I was like this :s I can't imagine I have so many daughters! But, one thing I know is I'm glad that they enjoy the lesson! :)
Here's my class and they're more playful in their work ;) They're bunch of helpful students!
This class has more sense of creativity in their drawings! Nice colours too! ;)
Hannah has been learning art from me since she was 4yo. She stopped art class last yr and came back again to continue her lessons! Of course I'm very happy to see her back again! She's in primary one now. Her Dad will be posted to Shanghai to work and they will be joining him for 2 years there. We're going to miss Hannah again because all her friends get along very well with her :) Hannah's Mum said that she will be back to join art class during their holiday seasons. "Hannah, have a nice trip and we will see you soon again! Bon Voyage!"
"Teacher Esther! I wana show you something!" Kaiyao exclaimed with my attention. He took out a magazine from his bag and flipped to the page and point at a picture! "Ohh... that's the picture you drew! Wow, well done!" I took a picture of him and his masterpiece printed on the magazine in no time! No wonder he's so happy today! :D And I'm happy for him too :)

Saving $$$ has to start from young, to adopt this good habit, we adults have to encourage the young ones to spend $$$ wisely and to save $$$ for their future :) Art can help them too! How? Kids can make their own Animals Coin Bank to start saving! We used tissue boxes, toilet rolls and recycle papers! See, we save the earth, save cost and even save $$$ in their favourite animal coins bank! ;)
